Jamie Newton

Principal

I enjoy the challenging aspects of engineering problem-solving. One of my favorite quotes attributed to Albert Einstein is, 'If I had an hour to solve a problem, I’d spend 55 minutes thinking about the problem and five minutes thinking about solutions.' This approach requires discipline and can be a challenge to not just jump to the apparent solution.”

Offering over 35 years of engineering expertise to AEI, Jamie Newton is a pivotal force in advancing sustainable and resilient design solutions. With a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Clarkson University in 1986, Jamie has dedicated his career to healthcare engineering, mastering the intricacies of MEP master planning and infrastructure replacement projects. Having led teams in the design and master planning of over six million square feet of clinical, diagnostic, acute care, and specialty facilities, Jamie's work is characterized by its commitment to maintaining service continuity through complex phasing.

Jamie joined AEI in 2020 to spearhead the establishment of the Boston office, leveraging his extensive experience in the region. His leadership on large-scale projects has cultivated a deep network of partnerships throughout the Northeast, particularly in the healthcare and institutional sectors. His steadfast commitment to sustainable design and resilient solutions distinguishes him in the field, making him a key driver in decarbonization studies for both institutional and commercial clients.

Outside of work, Jamie is an active member of various professional organizations, including the American Society for Healthcare Engineering (ASHE), the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), and the National Society of Professional Engineers. In his free time, Jamie enjoys spending time with his family, cheering on his favorite sports teams, downhill skiing, camping, and golfing.
