Jeff Heiken
Principal
“I constantly remind myself and those around me of the significance of what we do every day. Through the facilities we help to create, we empower advancements in curing, research, productivity, entertainment, and a better quality of life for millions of people every day.”
Raising three great kids, I have coached anything and everything, probably 50 youth teams along the way. Engineering is no different - show them the fundamentals, reinforce the positive, get out of the way, and let the true stars take the field.
Jeff Heiken assumed leadership of the Tampa office in 2016, joining AEI with a perspective that aligns well with the visions of our clients and a diverse resume of national engineering experience, including having run a full-service architectural engineering office. The culture of the Tampa office stems from a philosophy that we are a service industry, and everyone within AEI brings value to our clients and owners. In 2018, Heiken became a shareholder of the firm.
A Penn State engineering graduate, Jeff began his career working on healthcare and research facilities, with projects for Merck, Wythe, Pfizer, BioGen Idec, Easai, BD Technologies, and the University of Colorado. Since Jeff joined AEI, the Tampa office has supported major projects for the University of South Florida, the University of Tampa, Naples Community Hospital, and three major efforts for the Sarasota Memorial Hospital system. Sarasota Memorial’s new hospital in Venice, Florida, the Oncology Tower on the main campus, and the Oncology outpatient facility are currently under design and estimated at over a half billion dollars of construction value, engaging multiple AEI offices.
