Rob Bendix

Design Technology Manager

Working with evolving technology is an exercise in accelerated anthropology. Using industry knowledge and resources, researching technology, piecing together the right tools to augment the process lets us take the next step in our evolution sooner. Those moments of collaborative discovery and validation are awesome.”

I wanted to become an architect but was bitten by the technology bug early in my AEC career and I haven’t looked back. I consider myself a progressive pragmatist: I like moving technology forward in a realistic manner. I do this by collaborating with all staff levels, engaging at the intersection of technology and process, developing staff, and expanding services. My path, which evolved from drafting and technical production and then into leadership, has provided me a unique perspective on evaluating tools and processes to improve deliverables and productivity, and provide practical solutions with measurable results.

Rob Bendix has been in the AEC Industry since 1989 and started off splitting his time between a drafting board, a diazo machine, and AutoCAD Release 10. He has come up through the design technology management ranks, from production drafter to CAD/BIM Manager to Design Technology Manager. For more than 15 years, he has been actively engaged in local and national technology groups, has led peer user groups and tech school advisory boards, and has been an active participant in various product development groups. The combination of internal and external resources is an asset as technology continues to evolve our industry.
