University of Florida’s New Data Science & IT Facility Recognized for Design Excellence
We’re pleased to announce that the University of Florida’s (UF) Malachowsky Hall for Data Science & Information Technology received two American Institute for Architects (AIA) Pennsylvania 2024 Architectural Excellence Design Awards:
Featuring collaborative and accessible spaces, advanced mechanical systems, and environmentally conscious design, the building embraces sustainability and fosters a dynamic environment for innovation and creativity.
Completed in 2023, the 263,000-square-foot facility brings together STEM disciplines, housing faculty and researchers from the College of Medicine, the College of Pharmacy, and the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering. It is also the new home of the UF Informatics Institute, serving as a hub for advancing technologies and developments in artificial intelligence.
AEI played a crucial role in the project, providing mechanical, electrical, piping/plumbing, fire protection, information technology, and sustainable engineering design services.
Additionally, earlier this year, this state-of-the-art facility also received Engineering News-Record (ENR) Southeast’s Award of Merit in the Higher Education/Research category.
