Keith Garratt

Principal

Growing up, my stepfather ran an architecture and engineering consulting firm. We would talk about business and engineering at the dinner table every day. I knew at a young age that this was what I wanted to do. At AEI, I work with a talented group of engineers and learn from their experiences. We work on challenging and interesting projects that make a real difference in our world. I find that incredibly inspirational.”

Holding a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of New Brunswick and a Master of Business Administration from Babson College, Keith Garratt joined AEI in 2020 as the managing director of the Boston office. With over 25 years of experience in the engineering and construction industry, he specializes in providing innovative solutions for institutional, commercial, and industrial clients. Keith has a robust background in mechanical, electrical, and piping/plumbing (MEP) assessments, master planning, and electrical infrastructure, with expertise in phased infrastructure replacements for critical facilities.

Keith played a pivotal role in growing the Boston office, focusing on energy and utility, science and technology, and healthcare markets. Keith's leadership extends beyond managing operations, encompassing executive-level responsibilities for establishing long-term partnerships, ensuring high-level client service, and leading multi-disciplinary teams for successful project delivery.

Bringing a wealth of experience, Keith excels at leading engineering teams in complex building projects, offering a depth of knowledge in MEP infrastructure analysis and precise design for both standalone buildings and campus environments. Outside of work, Keith is a part of the National Society of Professional Engineers, and he delights in traveling, cycling, golf, camping, and a passion for horseback riding.
