Principal

Architectural engineering taught me to appreciate how architecture and engineering can co-exist. My experience has taught me how complicated it is to blend architecture with building systems while maintaining efficiency and aesthetics. An integrated relationship between the architect and the engineer can easily overcome these challenges.”

Ronald Edwards (Ron) brings over two decades of expert experience to AEI, joining the Chapel Hill office in 2016. A graduate of Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering, Ron's professional journey has taken him from Boston to Las Vegas and Macau, China. His expertise in project management and mechanical design is extensive, covering a diverse range of sectors, including healthcare, higher education, laboratories, corporate offices, historic buildings, performing arts centers, museums, theaters, gaming/hospitality, and high-rise facilities.

With such extensive market sector exposure, Ron has not only broadened his knowledge but has also refined his ability to understand and accommodate unique client expectations across various building types and geographical locations. Ron's understanding of how architectural concepts and owners’ expectations evolve and take shape within project contexts facilitates seamless collaboration with architects, thus contributing significantly to successful project development from inception to completion.

Ron has led substantial projects for clients throughout the country and internationally, including most recently at the University of Virginia, College of William and Mary, Duke University, University of North Carolina Greensboro, East Carolina University, Clemson University, Syngenta, Grail, and BASF.
