Caltech Tianqiao and Chrissy Chen Institute for Neuroscience Achieves Multiple Awards
AEI is thrilled to announce California Institute of Technology’s (Caltech) Tianqiao and Chrissy Chen Neuroscience Research Building — part of the Chen Institute for Neuroscience — has been honored in two major industry awards programs.
Design-Build Institute of America
Achieving both the National Award of Excellence and the National Award of Merit for Industrial/Process/Research Facilities in the Design-Build Institute of America’s (DBIA) 2021 National Design-Build Awards program, the Tianqiao and Chrissy Chen Neuroscience Research Building project was recognized for its outstanding team collaboration and innovative design.
“The design and implementation of sustainable strategies within this high-tech project is commendable. The teamwork involved to move existing buildings, create multiple levels of connectivity with adjacent buildings, and preserve the landscape is worth rewarding.”
Building Design + Construction
In honor of its collective commitment to design ingenuity and engineering excellence, the Tianqiao and Chrissy Chen Neuroscience Research Building has also been recognized with a Gold Award in Building Design + Construction’s (BD+C) 2021 Building Team Awards.
From maximizing transparency to achieving electrical resiliency, BD+C judges rejoiced in the building’s innovative design elements — the result of a collaborative project effort and the highest level of team synergy — despite the onset of a global pandemic its associated impacts on the project.
