USG's Biomedical Sciences & Engineering Education Building Earns a Spot in the 2024 COTE® Top Ten

We are thrilled to announce that the University of Shady Grove’s (USG) Biomedical Sciences & Education Engineering Building (BSE) was honored with a 2024 COTE® Top Ten award from the American Institute of Architects (AIA). This six-story building replaces a former 500-car parking lot and aims to attract a diverse student body to the university’s STEM and medical sciences programs. It features innovation labs and makerspaces, supporting regional students and academic professionals.

Achieving LEED Platinum certification, the BSE incorporates biophilic design principles and a robust array of sustainable features across five key areas: indoor air quality, water efficiency, energy use, local ecology, and building materials.

USG’s BSE exemplifies diversity-driven educational excellence, sustainably sourced academic settings, and community-inspired design, marking this award a significant achievement.
