UCHealth Eastview Medical Center Celebrates Topping Out

Members of AEI Denver recently attended a topping out ceremony three years in the making.

Project work on UCHealth’s Eastview Medical Center initially began in 2018. The design was nearly complete when the onset of a global pandemic halted further progress.

Thankfully, the project was revitalized in late 2021, and team members — including AEI Denver, Turner Construction Company, and E4H Environments for Health Architecture (E4H) — were finally able to enjoy a long-awaited topping out ceremony.

A time-honored tradition, an evergreen "Topping Tree" is placed on top of the structure's last beam featuring dozens of project team member signatures.

Comprising 125,000 square feet and three levels, the UCHealth Eastview Medical Center will serve as a medical office building and ambulatory/outpatient surgery center serving Colorado Springs and the surrounding areas. Patient services will include:

  • Outpatient imaging and rehabilitation
  • Lab and pre-admit testing
  • Ear, nose, and throat
  • Women's health
  • Orthopedics
  • Neurology
  • Urology

The ambulatory surgery center will feature six operating rooms, pre-op and recovery bays, sterile processing, and sterile core areas.

AEI is providing mechanical, electrical, piping/plumbing, fire protection, technology, instrumentation and controls engineering, architectural lighting design, and building performance services.

The facility is slated for completion next summer.

When complete, UCHealth's Eastview Medical Center will house state-of-the-art medical office and outpatient surgery space.
