Charlie McGowan joined AEI in 2010 after earning a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering from the Milwaukee School of Engineering. He began his career as a mechanical engineer in the Phoenix office, contributing to various healthcare, science and technology, and aviation projects. Over time, Charlie pivoted his focus to the energy and utilities (E&U) market, where he has played a key role in large, complex projects. His notable work includes the University of Arizona Cancer Center, a new hospital and central utility plant (CUP) at Banner University Medical Center in Tucson, and a new CUP at Valleywise Health Roosevelt Campus. With a strong emphasis on energy efficiency, renewable energy, and sustainability, Charlie consistently brings a wealth of technical expertise to every project.
With over a decade of experience at AEI, Charlie has earned a reputation as a trusted advisor to prominent clients such as Banner Health, the University of Arizona, the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and the University of California, Berkeley. Also serving as an Energy and Utilities Market Leader, he has been instrumental in expanding AEI’s presence in the Desert Southwest and West Coast, further strengthening the firm’s national footprint in the E&U market. Combining exceptional technical skills, strong project management capabilities, and an unwavering commitment to client satisfaction, Charlie continues to drive successful outcomes and deliver lasting value to every project and client he supports.
