Sacramento
“Sacramento brings together institutions that are always thinking ahead: how healthcare evolves, how research advances, how projects are delivered, and how campuses and infrastructure keep pace. We are grateful to help our clients work through critical decisions that will shape that future.”
As California’s capital, Sacramento is a center for healthcare, higher education, research, technology, and government sectors that uniquely align with AEI’s project expertise. The region is home to major institutions including the University of California, Davis (UC Davis), UC Davis Health, California State University (CSU), Sacramento, the Veterans Administration, Wexford Science + Technology’s innovation district, and a variety of developing biopharma companies.
AEI’s Sacramento office brings our team closer to clients we have supported across the region. The firm has provided utility master planning services on the UC Davis Health Sacramento campus since 2013, as well as electrical engineering and technology services design for the central utility plant expansion project. At Aggie Square, AEI planned all-electric facilities and served as engineer of record for the multi-phase innovation district. Since 2017, AEI has been providing engineering leadership, planning, and design services for UC Davis’ Big Shift steam-to-hot water conversion project.
Working in collaboration with AEI’s San Francisco office and specialists across the firm, the Sacramento team expands AEI’s presence in Northern California and provides a local connection to the firm’s broader technical resources. The Sacramento office positions AEI to better serve the extended region, including the University of California, Merced, CSU Chico, and potential clients throughout the Central Valley and as far as Reno, Nevada. Our Sacramento and Bay Area employees work together as a reliable team, with many collaborating closely on joint projects.
Sacramento’s character extends well beyond its role as the state capital. Surrounded by one of the country’s most productive agricultural regions, the city has built a nationally recognized farm-to-fork food culture alongside a growing arts, music, and festival scene. Tree-lined neighborhoods, the Sacramento and American rivers, and an expanding trail network provide easy access to the outdoors. At the same time, the city’s location puts the Sierra Nevada, Lake Tahoe, and the Northern California shoreline within reach.
