Geothermal Heating & Cooling
Affiliated Engineers provides expertise in the design and optimization of ground source heat pump systems that extract and dissipate heat as means of improving building heating and cooling system performance. Ranging from 30 to 5000 tons in capacity and 14 to 500 bores in deployment, our experience includes ground-coupled (closed loop) heat pumps, groundwater (open loop) heat pumps, and surface-water heat pumps.
These systems leverage the COP of heat pumps to improve energy efficiency, eliminate site carbon emissions, and simplify operation and maintenance, eliminating – or in the case of hybrid designs, greatly minimizing – need for boilers and cooling towers other than for standby duty.
The accuracy of our approach in performance is enhanced by proprietary digital models of both the heating/cooling demands and the geothermal fields that help determine need- and site-tailored solutions mindful of local utility resource economics.
